Welcome to the forum, Paul. You will be pleased that you moved to a real straight razor from the shavette. Keep the blade angle fairly shallow -- say one or 2 spine widths from your face -- and you should do fine. Like others have mentioned, watching videos or getting together with a more experienced member are great ways to flatten the learning curve. Have fun shaving!
