Coticules? I would steer clear of them while you are newish to razors. Why? IMO they perform terribly unless you get one that has been previously determined to work well with a razor. Stick with synthetics and jnats(razor grade). I bought a coti early on in my razor career that was new stock. Garbage on all levels, after getting my refund I then had to listen to this vendor screaming at me telling me how stupid I was and that I didn't know what I was doing. Well, it's been a year and a half since then and I have gained quite a bit more experience since then and still feel the same about my rock. There are some good ones though and I believe they are only the old used ones that come up for sale in different places . I even bought a more expensive select grade coticule after my initial non select purchase. It isn't much better but at least it does not tear chunks out of my blade and gives an ok polish.
