I offer a bit of advice for the choice of your first straight, find what you feel you will be comfortable with. Generally a round point is suggested and rightly so. 5/8 or 6/8 is typically the size suggested beyond this I suggest you pick something pleasing to your eye. Find something that shows whom you are as a person. Just my thoughts enjoy yourself most of all

The advice is the same on both sides of the Atlantic : take a second hand SR from the classified of a shaving forum, honed and stropped shave-ready, rather than a low cost new one from "somewhere in the East" or a high price famed brand one you can destroy against the tap or droping it on the floor.
