Hi and welcome aboard. Maybe get the package with the strop as well. Srd strops have replaceable pieces so if you damage one it's reasonably priced to get a new bit. Any razor sold by srd will be shave ready and good quality. Any questions feel free to ask

Welcome to SRP! I would also suggest the classified on this site. Many great razors, and gentlemen looking to help the newbies. Take advantage of the knowledge here too. Great information in the libraries. Ask many questions, and you can do this. Enjoy the journey
I am very appreciative of all the knowledge and sharing each and everyone has provided me with. Look forward to future endeavors with many of you.

Well, I would either grab that Dovo Pearlex off eBay and send it to Utopian, or check out the Buy/Sell/Trade area here on SRP. Every week, I see quite a few razors that I would love to add to my quiver, all at decent prices.
As far as grind goes, I think you would like either a half or full-hollow razor in a 5/8 or 6/8 size. Most shavers these days tend to prefer the larger blades, so you might like a 6/8 more. My smallest razor is a Dovo 5/8 Ebenholz; it's a great shaver, but I do prefer slightly larger blades.
As for the rest of your kit, definitely check out SRD, especially for strops. Good luck, sir, and welcome to the forum!--Mark

The important thing is to get a sharp blade. The type of grind you'll prefer is something that will reveal itself over time. I do advise a round point for beginners.
