You might be better served to learn lathering, shaving, and stropping first. Adding honing to the equation may well be frustrating.

Welcome to SRP!! Definitely +1 on holding off on Honing for a bit... Get Lathering, Face-Prep and Stropping down first. Doing so will save you a lot of frustration. And, I'd get a Troubled Razor to practice honing on as you've never felt true pain until you trash a razor you really like(d) while learning to hone.
