Thanked: 0Hello From Central Florida
I'm new to the group and look forward to learning more about the real art. My father recently passed and I was given his dad's razor. Any tips on restoring it would be appreciated

Aloha!
Welcome to SRP. I have a home in Florida as well as Hawaii so I'm a part time Floridian. I also have my Grandfather's straight razor (a Solingen).
There is a wealth of knowledge in the Library here and much on Youtube about restoration and honing. There are also gents that will chime in who all specialize in restoration. I've only restored about 10 razors in my lifetime so I am not the authority. Many gents here have forgotten more than I will ever know about restoration.
Enjoy the Forum and that new razor!

Welcome aboard.
If you are serious about it, then I would recommend you send it out to a professional, for the works needed done. He'll be able to give you an estimate on what needs done to bring it to service.
Remember, its an heirloom.
Passed down the generations.
You can't replace that.!
Buy another, save that one for special occasions.Mike

Hello and welcome to SRP.
I would put that picture on the "Razor" thread and ask questions. I think that it will get a lot more exposure there.
Enjoy all that the forum has to offer.

Its a good one, but Pete's right.
Post it in the RAZORS thread.
You could also look in the RAZOR CLUB thread, there will be a group there, dedicated to the Clover leaf brand.Mike

Thanked: 634Welcome. Photos first to determine if restorable. Don't do it yourself. Send them out. Plenty of talent on here.

Welcome to SRP!!
A lot of great folks and info here. Check out the library.
Very nice to have your dads razor, but send it to a professional if it can be restored. But yourself an inexpensive one to learn on
There are some great starter kits in the Buy/Sell/Trade area right now.

Welcome to SRP! Find yourself a bargain razor in B/S/T and send that heirloom out for a proper restoration. Learning razor restoration on a blade that doesn't matter so much may save you some regret.
Have a great time learning to shave a like a real gentleman.--Mark
