Welcome to the Forum. Take time to visit our Library, hang out and pick up on the lingo. A Straight Razor shave is a great way to start the day.

Welcome to the forum. I was wondering what you were saying the newspaper was for when you first mentioned it. The members with the MENTOR under their screen name are extremely helpful and can save you time/frustration/money if you listen to them. Or you can learn the hard way like I did sometimes.
That is not to say there are not a lot of other knowledgeable members as well because there certainly is.
Unless you got money to burn, plan what you want to spend and what you want to spend it on. It's easy to overspend with all the nice razors, Strops, and accessories out there.

He would slide that razor along his face and wipe it on the newspaper, strop when needed then repeat. Memories from my youth I hope to keep forever.
72?!? Hey your just a kid! razorfeld is in his mid 80's! I believe he was 80 when he took up this age old art. I believe that parkerskouson was our youngest member as he joined when he was 14. So as you can see there really isn't anytime table in which to start learning an older but better way of shaving.

This age old art has a big learning curve but with patience it is very rewarding. It's a long strange trip but well worth the journey.
