Thanked: 0Howde do
New here but not new to life. At the age of almost 72 I have decided to take up the straight razor as a new hobby. I can remember as a youngster watching my grandfather shave in his kitchen with a straight razor and some newspaper. He would slide that razor along his face and wipe it on the newspaper, strop when needed then repeat. Memories from my youth I hope to keep forever.

Welcome to SRP. Glad to have ya as part of the group. Be sure to read the info in our library as it will help with learning to shave with a straight and many other parts of tbis rabbit hole we call a hobby. If you got some razors post up pics. Enjoy the learning and take your time. Its a long slow road but a smooth one in the end.

Thanked: 1082Welcome to SRP.
Im sure you'll love this hobby and there are some fine gentlemen here that are more than happy to assist you if needed.
A good place to start is in the library
Shave Library
It is a wealth of information and will put you in good stead.
If you are looking for a good starter razor may I suggest the B/S/T
Buy/Sell/Trade
There are always a few good razors to be had that are well priced and more importantly will come shave ready.

Never too old to pick up a hobby! Especially one as great as straight razor shaving.
Welcome to the forum, enjoy the learning and ask questions if you can't find the answer in the Shave Library that Mark referenced! One man's opinion...

Welcome to SRP! Similar to you, memories of my grandfather's bathroom in Chicago replete with several hanging strops helped fuel my passion for shaving with straight razors. Enjoy learning how to get a proper shave using this site and its membership as your guide.
