Welcome to SRP. Take you time and go slow. It can be fun to shave when you take your time and enjoy the process. Ask anything you want and read the library.
    It's just Sharpening, right?

Welcome to SRP!! Sounds like you have had a remarkable start!! Be sure to keep an eye out here:

    Get Togethers and Meetings

... for Get-Togethers/Meetings near you. Going to Meets is just a great way to learn an incredible amount in a short time, see gear up-close and personal as well as meet and talk with others who share this hobby.

Welcome to the site. I'm N OTP myself.
If it was hones correctly to 16k it should shave well. Some only hone to about 8-12k. Some steel takes really fine edges better than others. You just have to be careful not to kill it with bad stropping technique.
