    Welcome aboard.
    Restoration.. Eh.!
Visit the workshop thread "what are you working on" and custom rebuilds and restorations. Lots of helpful tips, and eye candy, there.
Looked at your cast steel razor...very nice, will clean up easy peezy, and take a great edge.

Have fun, and welcome to the rabbit hole.

Who was the reputable vendor? If you don't want to give a specific name, was it an actual razor honer or just some place that does sharpening? In general the latter have no clue as to how to hone a razor.

Welcome! There are quite a few members scattered throughout the greater Bay Area.
One of us may be near you and willing to host some face time to help you get started.
We live pretty close to the Two Rock C.G. Training Center

Let us know where you are, and maybe we can go from there.

Hello, Sorry I'm a little late in chimming in but I read that your great grandfathers razor was shaving sub par. If you are ever in the South Bay hit me up and I will sharpen it for free and show you how to do it at the same time. It is very cool you have your relatives straight razor I know you want to use it, I know I would if I had my great grandfather. Stay cool in the Bay!
