With the photo enhancement, I can actually read this. Thanks, Roy! Here's what it says:

Small font left character: "Special" (a common Japanese marketing term)
    Large font middle characters: "Kikusui"

Unfortunately, the small font right character is completely unreadable and I can't tell you anything about the manufacturer. I'm sure someone on SRP has heard of them, though.

    Thank you for the translation.

I went looking for a "Kikusui" straight razor and found one with these markings on them. Any chance one of them is the unidentifiable character? As my deceased father used to say "You never know if you don't ask"--

Good find! The rightmost character on the bottom photo is exactly what we're looking for. Actually, it pairs with the leftmost character to say "Special Grade" (it's just separated by the two middle ones). In other words, the text on Shojo510's razor says "Kikusui, Special Grade."

Interesting, it looks very similar must be the one! Thanks so much! I'm guessing that my Torrey is a rescale using another razors scales...a "Kikusui special grade"

Thanks so much for all the help!
