Welcome, Ray. I never used a shavette, but use Feather blades in my DE, and while they are sharp, they aren't smooth. The combination of smoothness and sharpness is something well honed straight razors do offer! Enjoy!

Welcome, Ray! Good advise given. Shavettes are scary to me. A good straight with a sharp, smooth edge is my preference.
