Thanked: 552Welcome to SRP. Always happy to see a fellow Canadian and especially a fellow Ontarian here.
You are off to a great start. If you purchased your razor from Classic Edge, I’m sure you have a truly shave ready edge to work with. The fact that the first shave was so successful for you indicates your technique must be pretty good.
Now all you have to do is embrace the different acquisition disorders available to you as a straight razor user. Lots of enablers here.David

Welcome to SRP. You will find yourself whating whiskers to grow so you can shave again. Lol. Just go slow and easy. Watch the preasure and blade angle. Those are so important to a great shave. Keep it up and dont worry about getting the BBS shave, it will come. Just work on getting a close and comfortable shave. Learn to shave, make great lather and strop for now. After 100 shaves you will be starting to understand what it takes to get a great shave. Yep, it takes a while but its worth it in the end.
It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 0You are correct @DZEC !
I"m not sure if my technique is the best But , I have time on my side ... I generally shave before I go to bed
( neither here nor there )
so being successful last night meant I took 1 hour to complete 2 passes plus alot of re-lathering . My biggest thing so far is the whole "angle / approach " to spots on my neck , the actually razor feels good in my fingers
( almost said hand there ) so I'm happy with my equipment .....Yes there are many "enablers" here !
How do you think I got started !!
Anyway Thank You ALL for the warm welcome !
I'm more of a reader than a poster though.......

Those various angles/spots you cannot quite get now will easily come with experience and those ah-hah moments. Directly under my chin requires a contorted left-hand, scything stroke going directly from the right to left sides of my neck. Took me quit a while to get that area as smooth as the rest of my face.
Another issue I started off with was the bottom of my neck where irritation resulted from neglecting to shallow the blade angle enough.

I use the same attack on my chin, dang hair grows in all different directions from my jaw line down. Beard mapping is your friend. I spent the first year just feeling the direction of my beard growth and using my finger as if it were a straight to work out my angles of attack. I use both hands to shave, made a world of difference for me but not necessary by any means, just the way I do it.
