Thanked: 4822Welcome to the forum. I think getting familiar with straight razors is a great place to start. Making a razor shaped object is not that hard, making a blade that is highly functional is the trick. :-)

Thanked: 4822Also there is crazy learning at meets. There is often one in greater Toronto area most years and there is another in Wisconsin, those are reasonably close at hand. There is also a makers meet in Texas every year. There is also shop visits with people you meet online.

Love the look of that knife, the way the heal extends past the bolster.... The whole package looks like a highly functional piece of art.
