Obie is one of the fine gentlemen who has been around this forum for a long time. Unfortunately, his use of straights is tapering off as he ages, so anything Obie is selling is probably a great razor.

Although the Plain Vanilla strop you purchased is not one of the best that Tony Miller has to offer, it is a great strop for a newcomer. Unless your motor skills are exceptional, you will nick and slice your first strop as you develop the muscle memory needed to strop. Once you have that skill mastered, purchase one of Tony's better strops. I have a Fast Bridle leather and a Horween Notovan horsehide. Both are wonderful strops. I also have one of his "fuzzy linen" strops made of real flax linen. Tony is a great guy to work with. He is also a member of the forum.

Obie has a great listing of soaps. Unfortunately, his list is somewhat outdated as it does not include the wonderful artisans who have come on the scene in the past couple of years. Some of the best soaps in my den are formulas that have only been released in the past six months. However, there are great traditional soaps as well, especially if you have soft water. Check out the soap forum for suggestions.
