Welcome. It seems pretty straight forward but there's more to it than it seems like. Just go slow and don't get discouraged. It takes time. Make sure to read the beginner's section. Get a good strop and spend some time learning that skill.

Thanked: 4822Welcome to the forum. Starting with a shave ready razor seems like the shortest learning curve. That is also how I started and what I started with. Skin stretching and holding is super important as is stropping and blade angle.

Hi and welcome. Go slow and dont feel you need to do full shaves to start with. Just get the easy bits and work up to it. You will pick it up quick enough. Go light and let the blade do the work. Often said to just wipe the lather off. Good luck
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

Thanked: 552Welcome to SRP.
When you are ready to increase the number of straight razors - you should have at least 2 so you can rotate through them - check out the buy/sell/trade forum. You’ll get a good, shave ready razor at a decent price from one of our experienced members.
Enjoy the journey, but watch out for the rabbit holes.David
