Thanked: 1Some dude from outside Chicago
Hey everyone, I'm kind of a metal nerd. Started off in a jewelry class at the community college which led to blacksmithing and welding. Sort of getting pieces from everywhere if you will. Recently got the straight shaving bug, I can maintain an edge as far as function is concerned. Nothing crazy, just "it'll shave your face". I'd definitely like to learn more on that front, maybe dip into the forge subforum a bit see if I can start making something cool eventually.
Anyway, I love to learn new stuff from people who know what they're talking about so this seems like the place to be.

Hello and welcome to SRP.
There are some guys here that are razor makers and masters of the craft.
I'm sure as you progress, they will be a valuable asset and more than willing to offer help.
You're in the right place.
Enjoy your time here on the forum.

Thanked: 556Welcome.
What do you currently use to put an edge on your razor(s)?
If you post a photo of your razor with a close up view of the cutting edge, you will certainly get some feedback about how to make it more shave ready.David

Thanked: 1I have a 1000/3000 combo stone, a 10k stone and a strop. Not sure what brands the stones are they were inexpensive ones off of Amazon for my knives. I'd like to get a set specifically for my razors, but I'm gonna look at what you guys recommend first.
