I do know a bit about the double edge and don't worry about shape and size of the blade thats all standard, however there is such a thing as a long handle double edge, where the handle is elongated for easier female shaving. These are called, oddly enough women's razors or long handled razors. I recommend badger and blade for the double edges, so between that forum and this one you have all the info you need.

Hi Christina,
I have a Case straight razor (I think it's called "Red Devil?), not sure about width, probably 5/8, and it seems to be OK for legs. Obviously, you want to be very careful around your ankles.

Thanked: 0Hmm... I thought I was in the ladies' forum?
I have a quick update... I bought a straight razor, a Dovo (not sure which one, black plastic handle, MSRP$75) and as I've read here, it is not shave-ready. My hubby works at a knife shop and has also been reading up on this art. Tomorrow at lunch he is letting me use the wet stones to hone my blade after he shows me how. Then by tomorrow night I will be ready to shave my legs with a straight razor! I'm nervous!

Tam, I think you may have a Red Imp. We have a couple of those.

Christina, Just be careful Honing a knife is not the same as honing a razor.. I learned that the hard way
