Is There Any Room . . .
My dear Al,
A firefighter is not only a hero, he can also be a gentleman straight razor shaver.
It takes minimal expense to start your straight razor experience: a good but inexpensive straight razor, a reasonably priced strop, a boar brush and a puck of quality soap — and the heart of an artist and a craftsman.
I feel you have all the qualifications, so welcome to the world of gentlemen straight razor shavers.
Regards,
Obie

From one Fire Fighter to another, welcome to SRP. I hope you enjoy your stay here as much as I do. I can't comment on the package you are considering as I have not used or seen the components. I would suggest starting off inexpensive to be sure you like the extra concentration when shaving. I shave in the evening so I am not rushed, well most of the time.
If you are on a tight budget consider a shavette (straight razor type with disposable blades) just to get the feel for the process. If you stay with it the shavette can be used for a travel razor.
PM me if you have any questions or would just like to chat. Don't be afraid to post questions on the forums either. Most here like to assist.
Good luck!“If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.” (A. Einstein)

Thanks to all!
Just for the record, I have got the coolest wife in the world! She has been snooping around for a Valentines Day gift and came across the Ruprazor website bookmarked on my PC. She then decided to order the Gold Dollar/Filly combo for me as a present. What a girl. Thanks to all of you who took the time to welcome me and thank you for the advice.

Thanked: 10Someone just up the road from me! There is enough room for everyone, you're going to love it. I just started not to long ago and it makes the bathroom a lot more interesting, shaving is now a treat. Enjoy the new toys.

Hi Al and welcome to SRP,
Sounds like you've got a great lady there. I'm sure you'll enjoy the Filly they're very well spoken of. Just take it slow and don't get discouraged. There is a learning curve but it's not insurmountable, you can handle it. Take it slow continue to study and ask questions. This is a great past time with lots of avenues to explore.
We're all here for you buddy.

Welcome man, I'm new too and looking to get my first shave in this weekend I should get my last piece of the puzzle Saturday. I decided to go the vintage route. I got one RTG from Bob Keyes and a bunch of antiques that I will have to work on to get them ready.
I hope I don't cut my ear off. LOL
