Thanked: 1Hello, good sirs
Just wanted to introduce myself and say 'hi'. My girlfriend got me a straight razor for Christmas and I've been shaving with it ever since. I'm sure I'll have questions about shaving and probably maintenance and modifications as well. From just lurking this seems like a cool place.

Hello and welcome to SRP! There is a lot to learn but there is just as much help if not more.

Thanked: 1Well thanks, Scott Rob's girlfriend here... I have to say he's a perfect boyfriend too, so he deserved an awesome razor
Here's my thread when I was asking questions: http://straightrazorpalace.com/begin...ded-soaps.html
He ended up getting:
A Hermann Mehl Solingen vintage straight razor: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=130344963782=
A proforma strop: can't say enough good things about it. The seller even monogrammed it for me!
A brush: Men's Shaving Brush Marble by Craftiness on Etsy talked about in this thread: http://straightrazorpalace.com/brush...shes-etsy.html
Ogallala Bay Rum Shaving Soap Sampler: Awesome store, the customer service is great and they even threw in some extras! Rob really likes the scents.
Whiskey old-fashioned wet shave jelly by portlandgeneralstore on etsy: poor customer service, nice product.
The Straight Razor Shaving DVD
And a handmade ceramic mug I bought from my workplace.
I really loved putting it all together. He totally deserved it! And it's fun to watch him shave. He already loves knives and hones, so I figured it would be a perfect idea. I got the idea after reading the article "How to Shave Like Your Great-Grandpa" on the art of manliness website.Last edited by Maedchen; 01-25-2010 at 08:24 PM.
