    Default Greetings From Edmonton Alberta

Greetings all, I'm currently working on the Citadel Theatre's Production of Sweeney Todd. Got a little more interested than I thought, I look forward to starting out. From all the information I can gather straight edge seems to be a cost effective means of shaving. Although I'm mostly Bald I don't think I'll venture to the top of my head on my own any time soon.

Reading what I can get from the Forum's it seems as though Edmonton doesn't have any local shops that sell anything worth spending money on. If I'm wrong on that I'd love to know some local places I can go for supplies.

I've read up on the begginers Guide and watch a lot of reference material. So with any luck I hope I can get used to shaving straight edge, as I've been using razors for 16 years and the adventure of trying something different is appealing...

    Thanks,

    Scott-G

Welcome to SRP. Forum member scottlp has Rasage Poulin in Canada with a full line of shaving supplies. His website is here. I've enjoyed Sweeney Todd for years on DVD in the productions with Angela Lansbury and Patti LuPone. The Johnny Depp was alright but a bit over the top with the gore. Must be really cool to be involved in that.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Welcome, Scott!

I grew up in Edmonton, and always enjoyed the Citadel
theatre. Scott at Rasage-Poulin here in Calgary will have
    everything you need.

P.S. I have actually been on a conference call with three
people, all of whom were named Scott.

Ack! I wouldn't dig that. I've actually thought about changing may name many times over the years.

I also live in Edmonton and unfortunately have yet to find anything/anywhere that carries quality supplies for straight razor shaving.
I have however in the past week had the experience to place and order with Scott @ Rasage Poulin in Calgary and was/am very impressed! My order was shiped the next day and got to me in 2. So I want to take this opportunity to recommend Rasage Poulin for great products and service!!

    Default Greetings From Edmonton Alberta

    Hello, Scott-G:

Welcome to SRP, the home of gentlemen shavers. Obviously you have done some research already. Should you need further information, from single malt scotch to a quality straight razor, post it and you'll have your answer in no time.

What is especially impressive about SRP is its cast of experts on just about everything, especially straight razors and traditional shaving in general.

I , too, highly recommend our good friend Scott, owner of Rasage Poulin. Scott has a fine line of razors and products. Scott is also a good person and his service excellent.

By the way, in what way are you involved with the Citadel Theatre and with Sweeney Todd?

    Regards,

    Obie

Another Edmontonian. Nice too see you on the boards. I too just signed up, and am hopefully receiving my first blade soon. I havent seen any blades around Edmonton, but i can tell you that the Shoppers Drug Marts carry Proraso, which is an excellent shaving cream.

    P.S.
I just bought my tickets for Sweeney Todd yesterday, and i am freaking excited to see it.

I've seen most of the Proraso products in Shoppers Drug Marts and in the Italian stores (Italian Center on 51st and 105 St, Spinelli's on the north side). Sally's in Mayfield common has Pinaud Clubman aftershave.

Other than that, you will probably need some mail order. You decide on a razor yet, or you just looking for accessories/soaps/creams. I have a razor that I am willing to lend out to newbies, pm me if interested.

Thanks Dnjrboy, I ordered a Dovo Red Bone 5/8 from Straight Razor Design. I'm hoping it gets here in a day or two.

Thanks, for the tips gentalmen, I'll check out the Italian supermarket. I think i've learned everything i can without having the razor in my hand. As soon as its in my hand I'll be reviewing everything again. I can't wait...

    Thanks,

    Scott-G
