Thanked: 0I have just moved from Newcatsle to Katherine in the NT the joys of being in the airforce.
Yes the gear in the USA is at a good price, I have been looking at the razors on ruprazor and they are about my price plus he also has strops there at a good price as well. Has anyone from Oz bought from there?

grimmy,
Welcome aboard...
There must be a store somewhere down under that sells quality str8 razors, strops, etc. If they are not shave ready, then I am certain that an SRP member in Australia would be more than happy to hone it for you.
You should also check the SRP "Classifieds." There are most probably a few members in Australia or at least the western Pacific region who could help you purchase a str8 razor & strop at a reasonable price.

Thanked: 235I bought my first real straight, a Dovo En Vouge No. 105, at The Shaver Shop in Melbourne. I also bought a Black Beauty strop there too. I have since sold the strop but the razor is still in my collection. You can also get a good choice of brushes and some creams from the Shaver Shop. Something else you could try is walking into any barber shop you can find and ask if they have anything related to shaving.

Thanked: 1587Welcome!
I am afraid the NT is not that great for straights, although I would think that there are probably pockets of little gems sitting around at stations etc. As mentioned, Shaver Shops sell Dovos and Black Beauty strops. There is also a guy in Brisbane who stocks the Dovos, but despite my best efforts refuses to get in TIs. However, he has a great range of soaps, creams and aftershaves etc. If you are interested let me know and I will put you in contact with him. Lie Nielson in SA stock Norton and Shapton glass stones.

Thanked: 11The shops called "Shaver Shop" have a supply of Dovo razors, i got my Dovo strop there too, if you look on there website, they should have a store list and locations. They also have some brushes and soaps and oils, but the razors wont be shave ready... If you look in the classifieds, you will see a guy in Australia who hones razors for 20AUD, called Oz. He did mine, he did a amazing job, and he has a nice collection of hones
