Thread: Hello from Montreal

Hi everyone,

I've been using my father's old Gillette "Fat Boy" safety razor for some years. I recently came across a couple of my grandfather's old straight razors. I'd squirreled them away long ago after nearly taking my head off trying to shave with them.....I'd never even seen someone use a straight razor so had no idea what I was doing.....And they were (and are still) in need of sharpening. I've done a little research on them (a Boker and a Mappin Brothers) and come up with some info on the Boker but not much on the Mappin Bros. I've also PM'd someone I found on this site inquiring about restoring/sharpening them but haven't heard back yet. If anyone has some history on Mappin Bros. or someone (in Canada) who does restoration I'd be glad to hear from you.
