I'm getting very close to the finish line on my restore.
I actually got it honed up I don't have a strop yet so I know I can get it sharper. But it was sharp enough to try my first straight razor shave and no nicks or cuts and almost no razor burn.
I just want put a better finish on the scales and modify to tail a little bit because it was a little uncomfortable, then I put some picks up.

    Default went a little crazy

Well I disassembled the razor to work on the monkey tail and ended up doing some other mods to the razor, and ended up going a tiny bit over board

So this is no longer a restore but a complete modification. I started out wanting to take a little off the top of the monkey tail then a small finger and thumb notch for comfort, that led to another finger notch behind the first, And the thumb notch got deeper to. Next was supposed to be a slight feathering of the edges on the shoulders because I don't like the way they look. But I kept feathering till they were gone completely.
Next I started polishing and had to refrain from trying to remove all the pitting for fear of going through to the other side. Witch shows that oddly enough I can actually refrain sometimes.
I hope it all turns out to be a good thing. Here is a pic of my little francken razor. The scales are drying and I hope to attach them tomorrow or the next day then to the hones and I'll find out if I went to far with the grinding.

By the way I had fun and am thinking of going into the restoration business. Any one want to send me some of your treasured heirloom razors to practice on. I mean restore for them. Hee hee

The stodgy classic guy in me prefers the old tang but another part of me thinks that was a heap of fun

Yeah I admit I went over board. And yes it was Vary Fun.
I was actually trying to mimic a Joseph Elliot Silver Steel razor with the first two notches but didn't get them quite right

I would love to get one of these razors someday.
I saw it here on SRP but cant find it right now to see who it was that did the restore on it or I would give them credit. And I hope they don't mind me using there pic.

    Undream did that restore. http://straightrazorpalace.com/custo...y-weekend.html

I love the no pin look upfront of that razor.
