Hello from Hawaii
Hi, just wanted to say hello to everyone on the forum. I am brand new in straight razor shaving. I just ordered a
Le Grelot 6/8 Red Stamina today.
I also picked up a badger brush and soap dish and soap. I ordered a strop as well.
I am starting to watch all the videos on shaving now.
Hello to all and I am sure I will enjoy this forum because I have so much to learn and there seems to be a lot of great info here.

Hello from Hawaii
Hello, dtrdwngs:
Welcome to Straight Razor Place. We are delighted to have you with us.
You are starting with a fine lineup of shaving products. That Le Grelot is a sweet razor.
You also seem to have floated through the Wiki for a wealth of information. Good for you. If you have any questions, please post them.
Good luck to you.
Regards,
Obie

Aloha. Welcome to the forum. There is indeed a lot of great info here. I'm sure you'll be happy with the razor you purchased. Just take your time, and mind the angle of the blade while you shave, it's a very common mistake. Many guys blame the equipment out of the box. Let us know if you need help....

Welcome to SRP...
You've assembled a nice shaving kit there. Be patient with your progress. Take it slow. And if you have any questions about str8 razor shaving, please don't hesitate to ask.

Welcome to SRP. I bummed around Maui and Oahu in the sixties. Slept on the beach many a night in my hippie days. You're starting out with a quality razor and I hope you ordered it shave ready.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks everyone
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. So far everybody here seems so supportive and friendly. My kind of forum.
I did pay an additional fee for a "shave ready" sharpening. This way, I will know how sharp it is supposed to be and I will also start out right.
I can use some suggestions for soaps, aftershaves, balms and everything else. Any ideas, suggestions or whatever would be nice. Thanks for all the help and support.

Oh, if I missed anything that you think I may need or like, please let me know.
By the way, I have combination skin that is crazy oily even at 41 years old and dry and flaky at the same time. If you can recommend anything like soap or after shave supplies let me know. Thanks.

I am not very knowledgeable on the soaps and A/S. I like Mitchell's Wool Fat and DH Harris soaps, Castle Forbes creams and just about any Bay Rum after shave. Many of these guys are expert on the topic and will chime in with their thing.

cool update
My TI Le Grelot 6/8 red stamina came in the mail today. That was quick. I paid for sharpening and the classic shaving website said to allow weeks for sharpening and delivery so I was shocked that it arrived because I only ordered a couple days ago. Maybe it was already sharpened and ready to go? not sure on that one.
Also, a board member turns out to be a neighbor and he brought over some shaving soap samples to get me started until my soaps arrive.
Looks like I will be getting a smooth shave sooner than I thought. I am still watching videos and reading about shaving before I actually do it.
Thanks again to everyone who has offered advice, assistance and helped out in any way.
