Good luck and keep us posted!
5 shaves in and I'm seeing some improvement!

I'm definitely taking my time. I made a conscious decision to start with straights using both hands...it really makes seeing what I'm doing much easier.

I don't have to be clean shaven for work (or wear a collar and tie) so the patches that I miss at the sides of my neck aren't a problem.

I think coming from DE's with a solid grounding on my prep and lather has definitely helped...it gives me a few less things to worry about when I'm shaving

Do you know if there are any shops in Edinburgh that carry wet shaving goods?

What are you looking for? I've not seen any razors apart from the basic Wilkinson Sword Classic DE in Boot's and their own brand DE.

Some of the Turkish barbers have a few brushes and Arko shave soap sticks.

TKMaxx at Meadowbank has a few soaps and creams occasionally but not a huge range.

Jenner's will probably have some stuff but it's likely to be overpriced!

Soaps and creams, maybe a brush, I suppose. Surely there's someplace that carries Castle Forbes...

    Thanks.

I've never actually tried, or even looked for, Castle Forbes. Some of the smaller chemists stock Erasmic and Ingram's cream. I find it hard to beat Palmolive sticks for quality at a great price!
There's a Crabtree and Evelyn and a Penhaligon's in the city centre but I've just gone with the internet option to avoid the hassle of the roadworks

The Wilkinson Sword brush you can get in the bigger supermarkets (ASDA/Tesco) is okay but I've had better results using Boot's own brand brush. I've seen some anonymous "badger" brushes in the Turkish barbers but have never tried them so can't attest to their quality.

Hmm...ive tried many creams and i have to say that Castle Forbes rates as my very favorite. Lucky you, it is made in your own beautiful country. Check it out...you'll not be disappointed, for sure.
Oh, and awesome to read about your straight shaving progress. It really does get better.

    Mac
