Maybe make your first attempt on an inexpensive razor just in case.
It can take some time for the hand eye co-ordination to develop.
It would also be helpful to have a shaveready straight on hand to compare your honing.

    Hello Icroxton,

Welcome to SRP...Happy to have you aboard.

Peruse the pages of the vendors who advertise here on SRP. That should whet your straight razor appetite. I know that at least two of the vendors are having sales on straight razors. One even has a featured razor and strop as well as a complete shaving set sale each month. Check it out.

What ever razor you finally decide to purchase, make certain that it is expertly honed.

Again, welcome to SRP. Take care--and smooth shaving.
