Thanked: 0Hello from Georgia!
Hello, guys! I was reading Money magazine this month. A good little article on how "green" the DE razors are. Reminded me that I have always wanted to try a straight razor. And how much "greener" can you get?? So, here I am!!
While looking at razors to buy, I thought some of the older ones were absolutely beautiful. So, I have messed around and bought three on ebay that I would like to restore. I am still trying to decide on what razor to buy to shave with for now. Any ideas?

Welcome to SRP. The best place to get a razor to shave with would be from one of the SRP sponsoring vendors whose ads you'll see in the sidebars or from the SRP classifieds. Whatever you do make sure you specify that it be pro honed. You can also find good deals in the SRP classifieds in the tool bar above. Again, make sure the razor is specified to be shave ready. Read my sig below to avoid nicks and cuts and follow the link to the SRP Wiki.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 0No pics yet. I just ordered them yesterday, so I'm waiting on the shipments. I read on a thread that I should get a DE safety razor to finish any initial butcher jobs with the straight razor. LOL! So last night I ordered a Merkur 38C Razor from an online vendor whose link I found on SRP. I'm still deciding on what straight razor to purchase to shave with. Is it reasonable to think that I, personally, can hone a restoration to shave ready status on my first attempt?
