Hello from Finland and welcome to the great site.
Thanks for the nice pics too.
And just Mark (JMS) gently said don't forget to tell us if you want to get rid of your hone. It's a burden to keep if you have no use of it'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

i have some question about the coticule.. i try to hone one razor very dull (wapienica,i think new),50 laps ca,with vaseline oil according to the barber.. the blade is not sharps compared to the derby-gillette blade...
it's possible to hone a razor only with this stone?

If it is genuine coti stone then honing your razor shaveable would be ok. You need a slurry stone to do the hard work before final stages.
I would not use vaseline oil on stone but i'm sure your barber knows better. They might have their own tricks to do the job. I would use water only with coti. There are some European members who are known to be the excellent sharpeners. If you aren't willing to send the razor away then why not ask your local barber to do the job?
You can find tons of info on razors, sharpening and anything related from Wiki

Thanked: 5thanks for the advice!!
i'm seeing the wiki link,it seems very well written!!
the barber who gave me the stone and the monopol razor seemed a little drunk... 2 days later the shop was closed...
i 'll try to use water instead of oil on the stone, light touch...
in the town nearby there is a cutlery (probably one of the best near milano), mr collini says that in few time and with little money (8 euro) hones the razor... i don't know the method of honing, and the result... but i'm curious to try...
meantime i'm reading the forum

Ciao Stefano & welcome!
I would highly recommend that whoever you choose to hone your razor shaves with one as well & hones by hand, not on a machine, or you might end up with a sharp knife instead of a smooth razor..
Buona fortuna !The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Hi Stefano, and welcome to the site.
I was interested to hear about the use of vaseline. Has anyone else ever tried that?
Cheers,
RobI love the smell of shaving cream in the morning!

Welcome to SRP. That is a nice collection you have there. You should be able to find a member in europe that offers honing. It is amazing what kind of edge an experienced honer can bring out. Good luck!
