Well it seems all I need to do now is buy everything. And I'll try and learn practically. The main thing I want to know now is what are a few cheap but still high quality razor brands?

I still like the DOVO Best Quality. It's relatively inexpensive, and is a nice shaver. I honed one for a guy over the weekend, and I'm never disappointed with them.

+1 for the DOVO Best Quality, thats a great little razor. My first razor was a DOVO Black Star and its still amongstmy best shavers..!

Theres a gathering up in London this Saturday and there will be a whole load of different razors, strops, hones, soaps and everything else there so you can try a few things out and see what you like. If you can make it here are the details! It would be great to see you there and I'm sure we can get you up and running pretty quickly! You'll also have the chance to buy all the kit you need on the day if you'd like to!

Welcome to the site and have fun!

    Entersyed,

    Welcome and hello from Hastings

++1 on the Dovo Best; an excellent, no-frills razor (and a keeper too !!).

++1 on Misters Dempster and Miller; both are really fine chaps to do business with.

For shaving consumables, My Mayhew of www.connaughtshaving.com is an excellent resource.

    Good luck !

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ
