Hello from Tracy, CA!
I just wanted to introduce myself! I'm new to SR shaving. I've always just used a disposable razor, one pass, and that's been fine. Can't stand electric razors unless shaving my head.
Anyway, a good friend of mine tells me the other day about wanting a straight razor, and it instantly peaked my interest. I always wanted to learn how to shave with a straight razor........reminds me of something my grandfather may have done, but nothing I ever considered for myself. Now, I think I am hooked!
I ordered a DOVO 6/8" Bizmark set from SRD yesterday, and I'm anxiously awaiting for it to ship! Why does time go so slow when you're waiting for something?!?!
So hopefully, it will arrive by the end of next week and I can begin practicing shaving with the straight razor.
Anyway, thanks for the warm welcome! I'm self employed so I will do my best to post on this wonderful forum throughout my day, as time permits!

Welcome aboard Jeff;
There is much helpful info in the Wiki section of SRP if you have not already perused. You can consider us as helpful and wise Grandpas. NOT! If I were half the man as my Grandpa. Have fun

Thanked: 3Hey Jeff.
I just joined this site and I'm new to straight razor shaving as well. I think I ordered the same razor as you did, it arrived yesterday from SRD. It's a beauty. Good luck with everything.

Welcome to the forum. Good choice btw. My first razor was a Dovo Bismarck, 6/8th I believe in Red...And since you purchased it from SRD, rest assured, it's shave ready.
You should be good to go. Take your time, make sure you do a good prep on your face, try and stretch your skin, and watch the angle of the razor. Read through the WIKI here....We have assumed control !

Welcome to SRP!
If you ever make it as far as Fresno, I'll show you around some of the antique stores that are almost always stocked up with good blades

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! Looking forward to posting my first time shaving with a straight razor, just as soon as it comes! In the meantime, I am reading up on the WIKI and watching lots of videos on the subject!
It's also great to see so many local people! Still wondering where all the supposed SNOW is supposed to be down in these lower elevations!
