Thanked: 6New Member
Hi guys,
My name is Jim Harper. I recently discovered my addiction to the straight razor lifestyle and am loving it.
I have more passion than talent right now, so I've been buying razors and supplies and with your help (Lynn in particular) I think I've got what I need.
I'm still trying to get the hang of stropping to maintain a super-sharp blade, and don't seem to be able to achieve the excellence you get when you buy a blade shave-ready from Lynn, but I'm learning. How might I find a member willing to be a mentor?
Love this group, you guys are a class act of helpful, true gentlemen.
Thanks,
Jim

Thanked: 3795Just ask.
I'd be willing to attempt to answer any questions you might have, but in general, in my opinion, it is better to post a question to the forum rather than to an individual because you will get a greater diversity of answers. Of course you should try to do a bit of reading in the forum and the Wiki to learn some stuff, but feel free to ask anything in the forum. In that sense, everyone in this forum is a mentor.
If you do want a one on one mentor, I'd be willing to volunteer. Also, please check the member map to find someone nearby to help you in person. Click the "Community" button at the top of the page and then select the "Member Map" link.

Thanked: 2209As Utopian said...just ask! Send anyone with the Mentor label a PM.
Where are you from? That would be a good place to start. Maybe there is a Mentor in your city?Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

Thanked: 993Welcome to SRP.
JimHarper; take a gander in the Stropping section of the forum, and the first sticky is a video posted by AFDavis11. He really does an excellent job showing the lack of wrist movement, and what you should be aiming for with your fingers.
I find this forum an excellent place to unwind at the end of the day (as in right now), and it's filled with class-act, helpful people.
Enjoy your time here.
