Default A Scot in the windy city

    Hi,

I found this forum a while ago, but have just recently started posting. I found the site looking for info on razor honing. Boy did I find more info than that!

Here's a little info on myself. Grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland. I moved stateside to Chicago when I was 15 and am now 27. I've been using straight razors since I was 13-14. My first razor was a 6/8 W&B medium hollow ground that met an untimely death about a year ago via "well-intentioned" cleaning. Since then I have stocked up on many different types/brands of straights from England, Germany, USA etc. My current two favorites are my pre 1890 7/8 W&B, and Dovo Prima Klang. Two very different razors with so many great qualities.

Great community you have here, look forward to getting to know everyone.

    -Chris

    Welcome Arbroath--
I have some Scot in me too. Although I'm the 4th generation in America, so I'm a bit diluted. My people are from Ayrshire. Again, Welcome!

Ahh! That's where William Wallace got his start as a leader! Also where the sharpening stone "Water of Ayr" comes from. Ayrshire is a beautiful place full of gorgeous scenery. Last time I was there, I caught a horse race and it was some good fun!

Glad to see a fellow Scot in these parts. Diluted or not, according to your avatar, you wear the kilt. Some would say that makes you more Scot than me! I prefer pinstripe

That kilt in my avatar is the Buchanan plaid. That's the official kilt of the bagpipe band I belong to. The Baillies were a sept. We have a modern kilt--Baillie of Lamington--that I wear occasionally. I like pinstripes too.
