Thanked: 0More greetings
Hi there,
I've yet to actually take the plunge and cough up the money for a straight razor, but it is something I've been mulling over for some time now having read various articles. It's great to have found a really good resource for info not on just shaving but buying and maintaining. Thank you in advance!
I'm a Brit but currently living in Vancouver BC. Among my ridiculous obsessions/joys are triathlon and espresso (used to fuel the first).

Thanked: 993Hello BruceB,
Welcome to SRP! Here's my analogy...
Once you find a great place to make Espresso, it's impossible to go back to "auto drip" coffee makers.
My brother in law is a triathlete, and now finds regular exercise boring.
Once you take the straight razor plunge, like many of us you'll find it absurd to go back to the cartridge razor. And like triathlons and espresso, the right equipment and techniques make all the difference.
Let us know when you buy your one way ticket....

Thanked: 0lol, yup I found the classifieds page, now avidly watching it and saving money up for all the necessary kit.
I have to confess though that I love the anticipation of getting a razor, pouring over the great choices of razors on offer, dreaming of which one to get.

Welcome to SRP!
To add to the good things mentioned already, give a look over at Whipped Dog Straight Razor Sales for another place to get that first razor, and the necessary items to make your venture into straight shaving a happy one. I've got no ties to the fellow who runs that site, but he's in it to help newcomers like you and me get setup right and avoid as much frustration as possible (same can be said for the classifieds here and SRD).
Good luck!
