Thanked: 4New Member from NJ/Boston Area
Hey guys,
Just wanted to properly introduce myself. My name is Joe and I am from New Jersey and currently live in Boston for schooling purposes, so I go back and forth. I am very excited to be a member of the forum and have learned a lot already. I am brand new to the world of straight razor shaving, but I am definitely looking forward to enjoying the best shaving experiences for the rest of my life. I look forward to meeting you guys and getting to know you all through the forum. Thanks for reading and if you have any advice, words of wisdom, tips, etc.; please don't hesitate and feel free to drop me a message or just reply to this thread. Thanks guys!
From,
Joe

Thanked: 993Hey Joe,
Welcome to SRP. This is definitely the place to be. There's plenty of friendly people willing to dispense excellent advice.
Check out the Wiki if you haven't already, and the classifieds. Oh...and read Lynn's beginners tips, and anticipation stickies in the "beginners" forum. Take it slow. You're going to be shaving for a long time. You'll avoid scarring by "reading" first and "doing" second.
Welcome again.

Welcome aboard! If you haven't got them already, here's what you'll need to get started (other than a good straight, best purchased from the Classifieds or @ whippeddog.com):
Brush- preferably badger's hair; Soap or cream- Proraso, Truefitt and Hill, Trumper's, or Taylor of Old Bond Street (TOBS) are all fine choices; Alum block-invaluable in treating the inevitable razor burn or small nicks; Aftershave-many of us like the old school brands such as Aqua Velva, Old Spice, Pinaud, or some brand of Bay Rum.
Welcome to your new obsession!

Welcome aboard!
You've come to the right place to get thoroughly and properly schooled. Best of luck and don't be shy to ask. Most here, myself not included, know a great deal about the art and are impressively generous with their knowledge.
