Default noobie looking for some advice.

he guys names kris. i started shaving a while ago with a double edge razor. made by merkel i bought it at the art of shaving. i like it alot, but i still get a little razor burn. is there anyone who can help me with this? i have the double edge i always shave after a hot shower. i also have a set of lavender preshave oil, lavender shaving cream, beaver brush, and a lavender mosturisor. i also have a lime shaving cream. i bought it all at the art of shaving. the guy there said i have very sensitive skin, yet very thick hair so lavender is the best. but recently i treated myself to a straight razor shave a barber shop and like magic no razor burn. so besides the fact that straight razors are so bad ass cuz of thier nostalgic personality its also the only thing that doesn't give me razor burn. would anyone be able to give me some advice on where to start. thanks guys. love the forum been looken around for a few days before actually signing up

Well Kris, you've come to the right place.

There is a whack load of information here, in both the "beginners" and "shaving with a straight razor" sections.

If you're intent on purchasing a straight razor, check out the SRP classifieds for blades that are shave ready, and cost effective.

Second, do a member search in the main toolbar across the top of the screen, and see if there is anyone in your area who may be able to help you out with your learning curve.

Read, read, and continue to read. It will serve you well.

Welcome again, and keep us posted on your findings!
