Howdy from Acworth, GA!
Strop and razor and Lynn's DVD showed up in the post yesterday. I figure on getting started in the next day or two. Suffering from a cold, so may wait a bit so I don't sneeze while shaving my neck. I've been wet shaving for over 5 years, first with good prep but a Trac3. Moved up to a DE recently and decided to go all the way with a single blade. I took the test on another site and for the most part I should be a straight razor shaver. My motorcycle goes "potato-potato-potato" instead of whining like a snowblower on meth. Although I don't shoot blackpowder, I do shoot Single Action Armies and an 1860 Henry. When I'm not typing on the keyboard, I write with a fountain pen.
I'm looking forward to the challenge of single blade shaving and learning a bunch of new skills. I'll report on that first shave soon. Wish me luck.

Welcome to the site. I don't shoot black powder, but I do shoot. I also write with Fountain pens, and my bike goes Potatoe, Potatoe, Potatoe. So, your in good company.
P.S. If you ever get tired of the 1860 Henry, I have a good home for it here, in the South....We have assumed control !

Good luck, and welcome aboard.
Seems you got a good outfit and ready to go. I don't have the DVD, but I hear is chock full of good info and advise, so out of respect for those who know better than me, I'll refrain from giving you advise.
While my bike does not speak veggie, it's a cruiser and I manage to keep up with the big boys. No black powder, but that Henry sounds like something good to have.
I'm curious about the test... I've been using a straight razor without a license for some time, and I'm worried the man may come knocking.Last edited by Snake; 03-31-2011 at 01:21 PM.

You can find the test at Straight Razor or Safety Razor?

Thanked: 10Welcome!
You sound like the kind of guy to hang out with. I did sneeze during a shave (my first or second.) The styptic pencil came in very handy. Stopped the bleeding cold.
Best of luck with your first shave.
Best regards,
Johan
