You don't know how much I appreciate the invite!

Lynn, I will do the 5 hr drive! I'm ordering a kit today and the DVD so I can learn all I can before coming over.

Ok, got my eye on a Dovo Bismarck 6/8, the only difference I can see between one Dovo and another is the ascetics, other aspects such as the feel can't be determined online.

Question, why choose a 2" strop when there are 3" available?

Interesting stuff, found lots of interesting disputes on 2 and 3 inch strops. I did place my order, got the 3 inch, if it doesn't work out I can always get another....

Yes indeed...I did so with nary a nick or cut. I did have some razor burn afterwards, however.

I would highly recommend getting a copy of Lynn's dvd on straight razor shaving. Its available from several of the online vendors who advertise here as well as in the SRP Classifieds. That's what I used to begin my journey into the world of straight razor shaving.

As for the 2" vs. 3" strop. I opted for a 3" myself. No problems.

I live in Texas, but am from Missouri and spend time with my son and family in Springfield fairly often. If you can't hook up with Lynn, possibly we could connect in Springfield for an hour. Try the other possibilities, Lynn and whoever raises their Missouri hands. Keep me in mind, though, as a backup option. And, if so, PM me or email LarryAndro@GMail.com.

Hey guys! Thanks for all the invites! I am getting down Lynn's way this month, will drop the wife off at the mall first lol.

I spent over $300 on shaving stuff in the last two days LOL. What an adventure already!

Looking forward to it. I go by Tim and you on my way to Bennett Springs a couple times a year too.

I usually recommend 3 inch strops. I used a 2 1/2 inch forever just because it was the traditional size. Once I switched to the 3 inch, I rarely use a 2 1/2 any more. The 2 inch strop is for the most part a beginner strop that is a cheaper alternative for the new guys. Nuttin wrong with it, just use an X stroke and you're good.

    Have fun,

    Lynn
