new member checking in
i find it quite interestimng that im not the only one to tire of the hype that more blades on the same stik give a better shave, about 20 years ago i had the good fourtune to find a gillett super speed red tip at a yard sale for a quarter, then i found out you can still buy de blades, and from there i was hooked on dads way of getting the fuzz off my face.ive since built quite the collection of de shavers and,am now interested in stepping back another notch, ive found a good selection of straight blades, and cant wait to try them out.the info contained in this site has been very helpful, and i thank all those who put out the advice, and resource help.im quite adept at honeing good steel and am sure ill have no trouble getting a good edge on my new vintage shavers,i already have several good soaps(williams while a good starter just dont cut it anymore)also love my pure badger medium knot brush,i cant understand how we bought the hype that the cold foam in a can was a good thing???so i hpoe to get to know my fellow regressors and continue to enjoy the dying art of a good shave, all for now.iwitness

Welcome to SRP. "Dying art" you say? You sir have found THE forum where the art of the genlemanly shave lives on, 30,000 plus members can't be wrong. That's way more then enough to keep us straight shavers off the endangered species list. Glad you found SRP and may all your shaves be smooth.

Welcome to SRP!
Straight shaving may be a dying art, but I find a lot of guys in my generation (20's) are interested in the rich heritage and culture of our grandfathers. Classic styles, drinks, rituals all seem to be coming back. Don't know if they'll stick around or not...but my experience with a straight so far leads me to believe I'll be passing this along to my boys.
Peace,
