Welcome to SRP. Just noticed this but better late than never. Running a blade over your nail is called the thumbnail test (TNT) & you only do it at around 1k to determine any areas where the bevel may be incomplete . To do that on a shaveready razor is redundant & will render it not shaveready requiring rehoning.

Hi thank you that info I really did realise a TNT would ruin the edge. I guess the only true way to test a blade is to shave with it.

    Hi Anthony

Just spotted your thread and would like to welcome you.

Thing is, until 30 years ago, I lived just over the road from you in Tylcha Fach! Moved to Cheltenham as I'd found a better job.

    Cheers but!

    Hi Gareth,
Im from Nantymoel originally I moved over the valley to be with my missus, I lived in Tylcha Ganol for a bit (im not that existed 30 years ago) then I moved to Coed-ely I used to have a few beers in coed ely club (but I dont bother anymore, its more like Roid Ely club now :-) )

My missus' family have been around this area for years, her father was Howard Bailey, her GrandMother Phylis was the sister of Boxing Legend "The Tonypandy Terror", Tommy Farr.

    Take it easy fella.

Ahh, the Coed Ely Constitutional Club! Spent many a night in there as my house was about 70 metres away up the lane next to it! There was always a weird and wonderful selection of punters in there including the local bookie who had the shop next door to the club back then. Always reminded me of Boycie on Only Fools and Horses. Insisted he was going on holiday to the Seashells (sic)!

There used to be some fine singsongs in there of a Saturday night after the turns had finished.

I was never a boxing fan much to my father's great disappointment but I have heard of Tommy Farr of course.

    Take care but!

    Gareth
