Hello from Tennessee
I have been lurking here for the past few weeks. Started wet shaving about 5 months ago with DE razors. I quickly discovered SE and injectors but it seems straight shaving has always been in the back of my mind.
I have a Weltmeister, Torrey and a Clauss on the way to me. My paddle strop should be here tomorrow. Now I am trying to decide on which hone(s) I need to start out with.
Really looking forward to that first straight razor shave!

Thanked: 46Welcome, MarineDad. Get yourself to reading, there's tons of good info here. I'm getting the gear together to start my training soon as well.

Welcome on board. Honing is easy but I would advice you to send your razors for honing. There are many pro honemeisters on this site. You have a wide choice.

Welcome to SRP MarineDad, welcome aboard. It sounds like you have some good hardware on the way. It's good to start with something that you know is shave ready so you know that is your technique that is the problems, assuming you have any, not a not-so-sharp razor.
Plenty of great information and experience here.
Happy shaving.

Welcome to SRP, we're glad to have you with us.
Those are some great razor brands, and it sounds like you've prepared yourself well, so I'm certain your adventures won't be disappointing. Let us hear how it goes. Oh btw, we love razor pics!
Best of luck.

I have been reading and watching videos and think I am almost ready to give it a try!
These razors have all been honed and are supposed to be ready to go. I am thinking I need a
8K or 12K stone to have on hand to keep the edge in top shape. I am looking at a Norton
8K or a Naniwa 12K.
The pictures are from the sellers' ads. I should be receiving the razors sometime next week.

Thanked: 4942Welcome and nice razors.
If you want to decrease your learning curve and have the time, drive over to Cape Girardeau, MO this weekend as there will be about 30 guys honing razors and shaving and talking straight razor shaving. I think we have one of the guys from Nashville coming too.
All the best,
Lynn
