new guy
Hi everyone My name is GTIwarrior. I've been lurking the site for almost a year now, I found it when researching ways to get my knives razor sharp. I never had any materials for wet shaving, so i never bothered to join. Well I finally got some soap and a brush last month so I figured it's time to join. I'm still using a cartridge razor right now cause I can't afford to upgrade right now. I look forward to meeting so many people and learning from everyone.
Wow, I got pretty long winded. Sorry!!

Hi and welcome to SRP!
You're clearly well prepared for this new venture
Once you do get yourself a decent straight you will benefit from your use of a brush and proper soap.
Good luck!Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Thanked: 993The positive side about not being able to upgrade right now is that you'll have some good quality time with your brush and soap.
Good lather and shave prep are two extremely important aspects of straight shaving. Good for you for taking the plunge.
Keep your eye in the Classifieds.....many things may pop up in your budget....
also: Holli4's website, HNSB's site, and Whippeddog all have very affordable products that are shave ready.
Good luck!

Thanks, I've been working on the lather but it's not quite where i think it should be just yet. I've got a Van Der Hagen brush and soap, along with a regular kitchen bowl. Based on some videos I saw yesterday i think my bowl is just too big for the brush to handle. I'll get there though.
Thanks for the tips on where to look, i'm sure I'll find something before too long

Welcome aboard. If you don't get the results you're looking for with the soap lather, you can always try a shave cream. Bath & Bodyworks sells C.O. Bigelow in 2 different size tubes for $5 and & $10, in my experience creams are a little easier to build lather and if your bowl is too big, you can always try a coffe cup. The nice thing about this hobby is finding out what works best for you. Enjoy.
