    Default Hello from Northern California

Hi all, I'm 6 weeks into straight razor shaving and am completely hooked! CaRazor from this forum is a friend of mine and gave me my first straight razor and strop as a gift to get me started and there's no turning back!

I was already into double edge safety razor shaving with a badger brush and lather( although I was doing the lather completely wrong!) and when he told me he was into straight razors I knew I had to try it.

I love to shave and have shaved 7 days a week for 20 years. I just loved the clean feeling it gives and the straight razor is the ultimate for that.

Plus it's a serious skill and art form and I'm into that side of it as well. A very Zen thing. My morning tea ceremony, if you will.

of course the more I get into it the more I realize how little I know and how much there is to learn. but that's the real fun.

I'm a physical trainer and I teach Russian Kettlebells for a living and to me the straight is just like a kettlebell- lo tech high concept and something that you HAVE to concentrate on when you have it in your hands.

I was lucky enough to be in Hungary teaching kettlebells last month and found the Flaschner knife and razor store in Budapest and the rest is history. I have my first seven day set and love and I'm good to go.

What a great thing to get to do everyday. I can't wait to wake up in the morning so I can shave, lol.

Sounds like you've come to the right place for any information and advice you might need and to just talk about your experiences. Welcome to SRP! and Happy Shaving!

actually I think I've stopped the RAD in time. I have my seven day set and now I need to really learn and master the blades I already have, and learn to hone them properly, before I need anymore. Now, strops and brushes are another story )
