    Default Hi from Australia

    Hi everybody,

I've been lurking a while reading up on things and thought i should come on in!

Ive been shaving with a straight for about a year every day or two, currently use a pre dovo Bismarck i picked up from Bob Keyes, ive managed to keep it in useable shape with a Ruprazor paladin strop and an old double amalgamite barbers hone.
My reading here has had me sampling and liking things such as Taylor of old Bond st cream, Pinaud clubman, and Tabac. There seems an endless supply of great stuff to try.

My main enjoyment from straight shaving is the ritual, and quiet time, the old tradition requiring skill, the smells and craftsmanship.

Anyway ive got a couple of other razors, a flic round point with a nice smiling edge about 13/16, and two taylors eye witness 1000's - non of these are quite useably sharp, so to that effect ive just purchased a dmt d8c, naniwa chosera 1k, and superstones 5k, 8k, and 12k (waiting on post), i'll do plenty of reading first and start slowly on the worst of the taylors and see how i go from there.

Anyway, i hope you all are enjoying this as much as me.

    Thanks

    Mick

Hi Mick and welcome. You'll have lots of fun learning to hone! The Taylors will give you nice shaves once they are done.

Welcome to SRP Mick, sounds like you have a fine set of hones there. Many hours of honing fun and the subsequent smooth shaves.

Welcome, MickJ. Don't worry about the yanks here, they're a decent bunch.

Well... Most of them, but its MickRussell who you really need to worry about!

@ MickJ - What city are you in, or state?

Strewth, if it keeps going at this rate we're going to have put up a gate to keep the riff raff out.

Anyways sounds as though you have some very good razors there.
