    Hello Gammaray,

Let me have the honor of welcoming you to SRP. I'm new myself and have learned everything I know so far about straight razor shaving from this forum or its members.

Good luck and the best to you, too.

    Welcome to SRP Gammaray!

Be sure to check out the wealth of information in the wiki if you haven't already. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Do you have a razor, strop, and brush yet? If so, we'd love to hear about your gear.

I'll have to admit, I'm a little curious about your username - is it work related?

    Welcome to your new obsession
    Greg

Yes, it is work related. I have worked in nuclear medicine for a long time.

I shave with my Merkur DE when I want to go fast. But for my "luxury" shaves I alternate between my two Dovo's; 5/8" Best Quality half-hollow carbon and INOX all stainless 5/8" full-hollow. I have a Dovo silvertip and a Van der Hagen badger brush. I have been SR shaving for a couple of years now and have successfully mastered the honing and maintenance requirements using a full set of Norton's and a 12k Naniwa superstone, followed by chromium oxide balsa and 3" leather stropping. The Wiki material on this site was instrumental in that success.

    Thanks for the friendly welcome.

Cool. I'm a veterinary radiologist & radiation oncologist, so I spend a little time around gamma rays too.

    Again, welcome to SRP
