Thanked: 0Hello from Ottawa
Hi Folks. I'm thinking of getting into the straight razor myself. My reasons are mostly so I can say I own one, and to get a better shave around the moustache and neck area - safety razors are only so good. I'm not a very hairy guy to begin with and I only shave about once a week. Still, I'd like a nice piece of hardware or two that will allow me to save some money in the long run.
This brings me to my question: I'm looking for a Thiers Issard Le Canadien razor. I'm not sure if they are still producing them. I tried to get in touch with Rasage Poulin in Calgary both by e-mail and phone as it's the only place where I can find them for sale. The Customer service seems shaky at best - I've called at least 5 times during business hours and no answer yet. Because of that I'd like to look elsewhere if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions about where I could find this particular razor if it's still in production?
Thanks

Thanked: 993Welcome to SRP. As far as I know, Rasage Poulin is the only proprietor of the Le Canadien that I'm aware of. You may want to send a PM to JDTO. He purchased two a while back, and may have some up to date knowledge of them or Rasage Poulin.
I've also heard that they may be closing their online doors, so it's possible that if they're in that transition that that may be the reason for your customer service concerns.

Welcome to SRP. I started with the thought of saving money as well. Didn't work out that way for me (50 or so razors and still looking to collect more)
As far as getting a better shave. This will not happen for several months or years. This can be a very tough and enjoyable skill to learn.
If you do decide to take up STR8 shaving just remember we are here to help you along.
