darkprince,
Sorry. I got your name mixed up with Don's. At any rate, I hope that my answers to your questions were helpful."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain

Salutations,
Welcome to SRP. The starter kit you have described sounds like you are ready. As for the types of strop creams, shaving soaps, even the blade oils ... This is all subjective. Try what you think is good, and if it doesn't work move on. I personally don't use a oil my straight after a shave. I just wipe it down with a silk cloth and make sure no soap or water is in the scales or on the blade. I do not use a cream on my strop, and I only strop before a shave and not after. As for hones, I have a Norton 4/8k. I have no personal experience with a 12k, but I am sure it would probably allow the razor to melt your whiskers away rather than shave them. I would recommend if you use a strop cream to buy a second strop for that. As for the oils, the purpose is to prevent rust and I would put more stock into your shaving neighbors since your humidity levels would be roughly the same.
We each do things a little differently, and we each learn from each other. In 20 years my routine may be quite different from what I do now. Enjoy the Dovo, I use one regularly myself.
Cheers,

Thanked: 0Thanks, I will keep that in mind!
What would be the difference between the alum block and a steptic Pencil? Asides the 10$ difference ?
It's okay, I appreciated the input, Very helpful!
Thanks! wouldn't stropping After a shave be a good idea for cleaning purposes? this would be to get any residue that might stick around on the blade after the shave/cleaning. I think I will just dry and clean the blade and see how that goes, If I notice any change ill change up the game!
Thank you again all for the inputs! very helpful!

If you have an Indian grocery store (like "Patel Brothers" here in Decatur) you can get an Alum block...for about $.99
After you shave, and rinse all the soap off your face, you rub the alum block on your damp skin. It will help close your pores, stop any little nicks, and provide feedback on how well you shaved. I shall try to track some down for you sir.
