Thanked: 0Hi from the UK
Hi everyone at SRP,
My name is Bernie from the UK, town is Middlesbrough north eastern England, very new to straight razor shaving just converted back to DE saftey and got rid of all the cartidges and disposables. Shavings more of an event now and better shaves. Still not shaved straight yet just aquired some old straight razors recently but they need a bit of work before they are shave ready one or two will be possibles I think T.Glossop Silver Bell and a Crown and Sword razor.

UKBernie,
Welcome and hello from Hastings
I have a couple of 'Crown & Sword' razors (Made by Ern in Solingen), and they are lovely shavers
If you are not a DIY razor person, you could send it to Mr Neil Miller for restore - his work is of superb quality:
www.strop-shop.co.uk - hand made straight razor strops, razor pouches, shaving accessories, vintage razors, razor honing and restoration
Have fun !
Best regards

The sanding and polishing by hand is time consuming rather than difficult, the bit you really want done by someone experienced is the honing.
Learning to shave with a straight is a steepish learning curve so removing variables such as is my razor sharp enough is a wise move.Regards

Thanked: 0Hi tuftey
Thanks for the support and advice have just Emailed Niel asking for some pointers so I can send him the best one of my razors to work on, practice strop looks like a good Idea when he replies I will probably sort out some equipment with him I want to eventually hone my own razors and keep them in good order. I just need to try and shave with one first to see how I get on with one. My DE safety shaves are brilliant been round the net and found so much on propper shaving including SRP a source of brilliant advice and knowledge. I got converted by watching a guy demonstrate DE safety razor shaving on U tube I ordered some kit, razor good soap and a badger brush just before xmas this lead me on to thinking about a straight razor shave as he also demonstrated this Geofatboy shavenation. This is becoming very addictive.

Welcome to SRP Bernie. You can't go wrong with anything Neil recommends. He is always a pleasure to deal with.
