Thanked: 983Ditto the pommy fulla above (jokes mate). You will need to get a strop. Make your own if you have the minimal amount of skills required. Just make sure the leather is smooth and free of bumps etc. I hear newspaper will also function as a strop, but I haven't tried it or know how to make one.

Actually a newspaper strop is a good training aid. Just cut a strip of paper to size & secure it with a bulldog clip. Eazy Peazy.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thanked: 485I actually folded a newspaper to about two inches wide and laid it on a table and stropped like that, it appeared to work, then again, sometimes things I say appears to be plausible, but later I find they are utterly implausible... utterly

G'day elgeeno and welcome to SRP.
Sorry I'm a bit late to the party - I've been out of action for a while due to conjunctivitis.
Glad to see another Aussie on board.
I seem to remember someone saying that newspaper and metal polish makes a good strop - I haven't tried it myself.
