Thanked: 3New to the whole experience.
Greetings,
I am so new, I don't even own the razor yet. I've been doing a lot of research trying to, somewhat, prepare myself for buying the necessities and diving into the world of straight razor shaving. I could definitely use some advise as to what razor to buy in getting started. I have been eyeballing a ti Spartacus. Forgive me if I don't tell you were I found this razor as it is the only one I've found and I don't want someone to pick it off behind my back. I have also had my eye on a couple of different razors by Hart steel. I guess my question is, are these good razors for someone that is starting out with straight razors? I'm sure I will have many more questions in the future but I'll just focus on the razor for right now.
Thanks.

Thanked: 993I like Harts.
I like TI's too.
However, they both require a full wallet. I would suggest you pick up something a bit more modest for your first razor. Let's figure out if you actually like straight razor shaving first before you drop $250 on a new Hart.

Welcome to SRP.
At this stage you may be hard pressed to tell a difference between any well honed razors so maybe just take the first step.
You can change shoes along the way as needed.
If buying something expensive is in within your budget go ahead but consider that as a new user mistakes can happen so better not to make them on a irreplaceable item. A plain jane entry level Dovo is a great choice from that perspective. The SRP classifieds often has inexpensive restored vintage razors that may also fit the bill.
Your first razor will not likely be your last. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thanked: 3Thank you both for the added perspective. I am so excited to jump in that I definitely needed the words of wisdom saying, "slow down". I appreciate it and I will start with something more modest.
